For the last few years, our name carried a story about parents giving so much of themselves that they lose a little of their color… and finding a place that helps them feel pink again. That meaning hasn’t changed. But as our community has grown, something beautiful happened:
You gave us our new name.
Long before we ever rebranded, families were calling us “The Mingo.” It started with toddlers who couldn’t quite say “flamingo,” then friends, parents, even our own team… and eventually, The Mingo became the way our community talked about this place.
So when we learned we needed to rebrand, we didn’t want to lose the heart behind our story. We wanted to honor the way you already saw us.
The Mingo is more than a nickname. It represents the warmth, the comfort, and the familiarity you feel when you walk through our doors. It’s playful yet grounded, welcoming to both families and coffee lovers, and it reflects the community-first heartbeat that built this space.
Parents still lose their pink in the hard seasons of raising little ones, and we still want to be the place where you get to rediscover it. Now, that mission lives under a name that you helped create.

our story

The Mingo was born from a season we never expected.
In 2022, Rachel experienced a miscarriage with her second baby-Juniper. What followed was a season of grief, isolation, and learning how to navigate motherhood while carrying both joy and heartbreak. During that time, one thing became painfully clear: parenting can feel incredibly lonely, and too many families are trying to carry it all on their own.
As healing began, a simple dream started to take shape—a place where parents could leave the house, find community, enjoy a great cup of coffee, and watch their children play in a space designed just for them.
Together, we decided to build it.
More than a play café, The Mingo is a gathering place. A place where children can explore through imaginative play, where caregivers can find connection, and where families can feel welcomed, seen, and supported.
Our name is inspired by flamingos. Flamingos lose their pink color while raising their young, giving so much of themselves to those they love. With time, rest, and nourishment, their vibrant color returns.
We think many parents can relate to that.
The Mingo is our reminder that even after life's hardest seasons, beauty can grow from the ashes. That community matters. That healing happens in unexpected places. And that sometimes, all it takes is a cup of coffee, a conversation, and a place to belong.
